Tomas at RemotiveLabs

A virtual vehicle spans many layers, from embedded code and device communication to the cloud infrastructure that runs it at scale. Tomas joined RemotiveLabs as a developer in August 2024 and brings hands-on experience from each of those layers.

Testing on real hardware has been a theme throughout his career. At Sony Ericsson he co-initiated a Python framework that flashed and monitored several Android phones at once, so continuous integration could run tests on actual devices.

Background and related experience

Before RemotiveLabs, Tomas worked as a freelance DevOps consultant for IKEA. Earlier, through Jayway (now Devoteam Creative Tech), he was a senior data engineer in the IKEA Home Smart analytics team and built the Alexa integration for IKEA's smart home product on AWS.

His Jayway years also included Android and Bluetooth work for Sony Mobile, among others on the SmartBand Talk and SmartBand 2, and Android text input for more than 60 languages at Sony Ericsson. He started his career at Enea, developing the OSE real-time operating system, after writing his master's thesis on flash memories at Ericsson. He shares code on GitHub.
