Jacob at RemotiveLabs

  • Cuttlefish and infotainment testing: Jacob added Cuttlefish support to RemotiveTopology, which extends the testing suite to cover in-vehicle infotainment. He adapted Cuttlefish to run containerized and in CI/CD pipelines, attached it to simulated vehicle networks, and set up integration tests where the infotainment system exchanges signals with other ECUs in the topology.
  • Podman support: He leads the work on Podman support, so users can run RemotiveTopology without depending on Docker. That has meant making Podman's network stack behave correctly on automotive networks and handling the differences in rootless networking. He has also made the tooling detect and configure the container engine automatically.
  • Container networking and observability: He makes the traffic between simulated ECUs observable and inspectable. The goal is one test suite across SIL and HIL, so a test written against a fully simulated topology runs unchanged against real hardware.
  • Simulation integrations: He helps users connect their own simulation tools to RemotiveTopology. One example is CARLA, where driving scenarios feed sensor and vehicle data into the ECUs under test.

Background and related experience

Before RemotiveLabs, Jacob designed serverless architectures and Kubernetes platforms and delivered infrastructure as code, much of it on the software side of large retailers. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering (LTH).
